Question
What is alt text, and why use it on social media?
Answer
Alt text is a short written description of an image, read aloud by screen readers so people who are blind or low-vision can understand it. Most platforms let you add it when posting.
It improves accessibility and can help discovery. Write it plainly, describing what the image shows. It is a small step that widens your reach — learn more in our directory.
