Question

Is an SMM panel really an aggregator of other sources?

Answer

In most cases, yes. A typical panel does not create engagement; it aggregates it — pulling supply from larger upstream sources through APIs and presenting it as its own catalog. It is closer to a storefront over other people's tools than a producer.

This matters because an aggregator can only pass along what its sources deliver, and cannot guarantee an outcome those sources do not. Seeing a panel as an aggregator sets honest expectations and explains why quality varies so much.
